This week is Earth Week – Earth Day is actually on Thursday – so I thought it’s the perfect time to tell you all about some of what goes on behind the scenes. It’s really important to me that my luxury handmade candles and wax products make their way into your lovely homes without having a big environmental impact on this earth. That’s why I strive to only source ethical and eco-friendly materials to create my candles and melts. How? Here’s just a little snapshot:
?? For my handmade candles I use a natural, vegan and eco-friendly blend of wax made exclusively from rapeseed oil and coconut oil and absolutely nothing else. It is completely free from paraffin, soy, palm, beeswax and synthetic ingredients. There is some discussion about the global over-farming of soy and potential links to deforestation so I am in the process of changing over to a rapeseed and coconut wax for my melts too.
???? Most of my raw materials and all my packaging are all sourced from UK-based companies, many of which are small businesses themselves keeping the money within our communities.
?? All my packaging is fully recyclable and plastic-free. I switched from plastic clamshells a year or so ago and now my luxury eco-friendly wax melts are packaged in biodegradable and compostable glassine envelopes within recycled and recyclable boxes. If you do find some bubble-wrap protecting your order, please rest assured that this will have been reused from my suppliers and would love for you to reuse it too.
?? The candle containers are glass and therefore fully recyclable. They are of course totally reusable and are the perfect size for storing pens, make up brushes, planting succulents… Check out Pinterest – there’s tonnes of inspo that’s really creative.
?? By shopping with me you are also actively helping the planet. 2 months ago I partnered with Ecologi and am on a tree-planting mission! ???? Even with all the positive steps I am taking it is of course impossible to be totally eco-friendly as of course I need to post my products to you which in itself leaves a carbon footprint! I have pledged that for every order received I will plant one tree in a number of projects currently taking place around the world. So far 79 trees have been planted all thanks to my wonderful customers and they can be found in Mozambique ???? and Madagascar ????. I’m very excited to discover that the impact of these young trees has so far already offset around 1.76tonnes of CO2 ?? which equates to one of the following:
?? 1 long-haul flight
?? 5 square metres of sea ice saved
?? 4,367 miles driven in a car
Amazing right? And we’ve only just started!
